Twilight

Silence ...

On the day we meet the Sun was high in the sky and it seemed to be an ordinary day. The Asphalt was still steaming form the Rain and the wet streets where glistening in the rays of the warming midday Sun. I had planned to spend my afternoon on the Piazza with my friend Steve but he had better things to do and I just decided to have a quick espresso at Luis’s Bistro.

I was sitting down in the usual spot under the Trees, this was my favorite time of day I was thinking. Not that there would be a particular time of day that I didn’t like … maybe apart from the morning just around the time it starts to get busy and the world finally decides to get going. Her name was Rachel and I noticed her walking across the street ….my heart skipped a beat and I was starting to fade into a different world where nothing mattered anymore. The only thing I could see was here …the flowing summer dress her pale skin, dark short hair. She didn’t notice me and I felt a bit like a voyeur following her every move. She stopped for a moment and looked over to me as if she knew what I was doing … and than she smiled.

I don’t think that anybody ever smiled at me this way and in an instant our eyes met.

Through the busy street she turned and walked away it was as all the sorrow in the world all the problems hatred and pain was gone. I tried to breath again.

daheim ...home ....

there is got to be a connection between the love of ethnic food and the seeking of new Lands, new experiences. When you try this stewed lamb dish pasted with yogurt and served with soft warm bread you are transported to persia, turkey and the middle east. all the spices melted over hours this dish has cooked on the stove and everything that has been added to it over time has created this perfect combination of soft lamb flavors, tomatoes, cumin and Sumac. there is a cooling effect by the yogurt that helps marry it together and the couscous brings a nutty flavor and depth. In all my travels near or far I never tasted something so perfect … and i will seek it for the rest of my life over again.

My best Ideas come to me usually when I try not to think those moments when you can’t decide if you are already awake or still sleeping. I feel inspired by many things that might just be everyday and than genius. Hope ...

To Beer or not to Beer …..

Duesseldorf

Taste so good .......

I always loved beer … well maybe not as a kid but after being a teenager growing up in germany i guess it always gave me some comfort even when i was not in the “motherland” . it has something comforting and familiar the taste reminds me of stewed food cooked for hours in the oven and served with potato dumplings or crusty bread, it makes my mouth water just writing about it. after all beer transports flavors and it is not only a drink it means so much more especially in germany. i think people underestimate how nice it can be to know that some things just don’t change for example one of the nice beer pubs in my hometown.
